Hey Clinic's Version of Street Art

Back in January 2010, we shared with you the cool doodle drawing left behind on the tear-away exam table paper cover, which portrayed me (Dr. Hey as a Rapper -- :

Well, this young man from South Carolina is now back, a year out from his scoliosis surgery doing well.

When he left this time, more “Street Art” was left behind, and captured here.  He gives his permission to share it with all of you.
He was real happy with his new posture, which he expressed in person, but also through his art!

Hope you are all doing well.

8 yo Olvia, now 6 week postop from Early Onset Scoliosis (EOS) surgery seen today with her letter!

I just saw 8 yo Olivia and her mom in clinic.  I completed her scoliosis surgery at WakeMed Raleigh 6 weeks ago, which is found on the blog.  As usual, she greeted me with a huge smile, jumped down off exam table and handed me a personal letter.  She just learned how to write a letter in school, including the parts of letter and proper formatting.

She’s doing just great.  She loves her new posture and she’s an inch taller.  She’s going back to full gym class.

Olivia wanted me to write her a reply letter, and she helped go over the proper formatting for me as well, including what goes in the upper right corner, greeting, body, closure and signature.  Very helpful.  We discussed whether she wanted it hand written or typed, since I have bad doctor handwriting.  She said that she did NOT want me to do cursive, which was fine with me, and that I could hand write it but just try to be neat.  I wrote my reply before going into the next patient exam room, and we’ve already got it in the mailbox for her.

She definitely gave us all a big smile at Hey Clinic today!

Awesome art left behind in clinic today by Shannon, one of our 10 yo scoliosis patients

We have some very talented children and adolescents that we follow with their scoliosis!
Many times they leave behind their precious artwork on our exam table paper.

This big sheet was sitting on my computer when I just got back to my desk after a long day.

What an encouragement.

Thanks Shannon!

Doodle art left behind on paper exam table cover

We had an artistic young gentleman from South Carolina who left us
several awesome cartoon doodles.

My staff were psyched to show me the drawing he did of me, dr. Hey as
a rapper w sun glasses and low ride jeans and some bling! Next to it
it says "wazzup ... Cracks-lackin dose Spines, yo!"

:)

Life is never boring at Hey Clinic. It's been a good week. Have a
great warmer weekend!
