Hey Clinic: Infantile Idiopathic Scoliosis in a 2 year old

We saw a 22 month old young boy back in clinic this week who has infantile idiopathic scoliosis with about a 20 degree curve.  He does not appear to have any congenital scoliosis, which would typically show up with mis-shapen vertebra.  His pediatrician astutely picked up on this curve on a well-child visit, and noticed the thoracic hump.  The child had a normal delivery and has hit all of his normal developmental milestones.

Infantile idiopathic scoliosis (IIS) is rare, and usually does very well without treatment.

Even little kids can get scoliosis!!
